La Prensa Grafica, one of the leading daily newspapers in El Salvador, conducted a survey which found that President Nayib Bukele has the support of 91% of the local population. Despite the media outlet being known for publicly opposing Bukele in the Central American country, the president still gained a 91% confidence vote which made Bukele express doubt that the figure is correct and might be even higher.
Bukele, who assumed office in June 2019, boasts one of the highest Presidential approval ratings worldwide. Previous data revealed that around 85% of Salvadorans were happy with his leadership, while the latest study by La Prensa Grafica estimated that the figure has increased to 91%. Less than 7% of respondents disapproved, while 2.1% did not present a response.
The survey found that the younger generations and individuals with middle economic status are the most satisfied with Bukele’s administration.
Participants highlighted some of his most significant accomplishments over the past years, including effectively handling the COVID-19 pandemic, enhancing the health sector, constructing the country’s highway infrastructure, and enforcing education reforms.

The 41-year-old presidential leader is a strong supporter of Bitcoin, passing laws in September 2021 to make Bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador. Not everyone supports this idea, and a significant number of Salvadorans appear to be opposed to the strategy, regarding it as one of the major failures of Bukele’s administration. Respondents highlighted that the increase in prices of goods and services, due to inflation as well as unemployment, are other critical issues that the government needs to address.
